Goal line: tangible, measurable goals….
That new job; the pay rise; the car; the house.
Or in a wider context, completion of that community project. The charity marathon. The fitness goal achieved.
All worthy, valuable and potentially fun (until they aren’t).
Soul line: your emerging purpose. Being in touch with what life wants from you.
The deeper question. Who are you moved to be in your life?
In my Home Straight work, sure, we’re interested in the goal line. It’s measurable, often fun to create and gives you that dopamine hit when you get there.
That high is temporary. It doesn’t move you to the depths.
So we get super focused on the soul line; it’s the highest point of leverage for creating the life you want.
If you’re hitting your 50s in the next few years and wondering what could yet be created, that meets your soul and goal line needs, let’s have a conversation.
I’m guiding and supporting an extraordinary cohort of men and women who are committed to setting the bar high for the final chapters of their career.
For some it’s massive social or conservation impact. For others, it’s pivoting to adventure. Yet others are shifting gears to create new businesses or go out on career highs.
The common thread - they’re moved not by an ego desire to look good or hit trophy outcomes. They’re moved, because they feel in their bones, that it would be unthinkable not to express these soul needs, and create from them, in their lifetime.
It takes a courageous type of looking at your life to contemplate this.
Lifting the lid on what feels either too comfortable that it feels like it would take a seismic shock to shake it out of place or so uncomfortable that it can’t be spoken about.
